Ffxiv lore finder12/21/2023 ![]() On the surface this doesn't make sense, but once you think about it, it really does and I appreciate it more because of that. One of the most compelling things about 14 and why I love it so much is how well and organically they have Star Wars-esque sci-fi Allagans The ancient Indian-esque Thavnair Feudal Japanese Doma and and the medieval/Victorian Ishgardians with the modern day stuff like phones, guns and Streetwear all existing in one planet at one point in history. Not to mention the whole 'Magitek wielding empire donning similarly iconic armour and are trying to take over the world' motif used in both also made for narrative synergy.īut given how diverse FF14's world and lore is. Granted their both Final Fantasy settings so naturally the lore, aesthetic and characters all fit extremely well. I thought the Ivalice raids where much better way at merging the two worlds. This stuff was touched on a little in GamerEscape's 2018 interview with Koji, so that'd be a good place to start looking more into this stuff. What about leaving from the different shards? If the sundering was just to Hydealyn, then that raises questions on what happens when entering from outer space (such as Midgardsormr's arrival) and what happens if one were to leave. The difficulties of moving from one shard to another would certainly suggest that these are separate dimensions and not just places you could get to with a rocket ship. We don't know the extent of the sundering - was it just to Hydealyn (the planet) or did it extend further? While Earth may or may not be present within it, there are other inhabited worlds - the Dragonstar and wherever Omega is from as a couple known examples. The cosmology of FFXIV has not been wholly worked out in regards to how exactly the sundering applies to it. The answer to this would probably be ".Yes?" I think some of your other questions are more interesting just internally to FFXIV:Īre the reflections physically distinct from one another, I always thought they were in alternate dimensions that occupy the same space as they are sundered from the same planet? Is earth out there somewhere? Well, if it is, it's not for Nier-related reasons. Which means, in practical terms, it's non-canon. But that also means that everything else has to be written in such a way that it won't force them to see it as anything other than "0% canon." So if someone out there actually wants this Nier stuff to be canon, more power to them. I think the official stance of developers on collaborations like this is, "It's as canon as you want it to be." No, Koji more recently implied that only the Source (The Star) has reflections, other planets are more or less completely untouched by the sundering. Yoshida did after all tell Gamerescape (I believe it was) that people should brace themselves for the third chapter's story, so who knows at this point really. 5th, hopefully the third alliance dungeon and whatever quests come after help fill in the gaps in the story. Regardless, one more raid left but there's more story after that read the PLL digest from Feb. Either that or they go so in depth like with Ivalice that you almost want the quests to be shorter. ![]() I feel most side story content stories are pretty slow until the third part, Alex, Void Ark, Omega (it was literally a tournament arc, how boring), Eden, etc.Įither way, this story has been disappointing and that's just because of how side stories work in XIV. ![]() He pretty much implied that the NieR Dark Apocalypse story will continue after 5.5 in some capacity and hinted that the "weekly repeatable quest" they introduce with it will be related to that continuation in some way. Just a quick note, we're 2/3 raids in, but Yoshida said it's only the third chapter of this story, meaning there's more to the Nier story in XIV, which makes sense as its supposed to be canon to both games (good luck finding a source, nearly everyone remembers them saying that-its a sequel to Automata- but you can't find it written down/reported * anywhere*). Our portal will also be updated as soon as possible with the latest information on Endwalker ahead of its release and plenty of content starting November 19th.But now we're 2/3 through it I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with the narrative. While waiting for the release of this major game update which will introduce the new Reaper and Sage classes, you can take advantage of our many guides on the content already available here. The new eight-player raid tier "Pandemonium" will also be introduced with the expansion. Many changes are to be expected with Endwalker, both with the classes and the already existing features.
